Maria Morozova-Meléndez – organ
All musical instruments have a certain flexibility. Just as an organ with characteristics of the Romantic era can ultimately also play older repertoire, the cornett can venture into the Romantic repertoire. After all, new discoveries document the use of the cornett in Brno, Czech Republic, in 1814.
So we have adapted the program to the particularities of organs tune to A=440 Hertz, a rather modern pitch convention, in order to combine the cornett with organs from all over, and to show the flexibility of both instruments in performing musical repertoire from different eras.
Starting with ornamented works by 16th century musicians such as the Milanese singer G. B. Bovicelli, and passing through the typical Venetian repertoire of G. Gabrielli or C. Monteverdi, as well as the instrumental recercatas by G. P. da Palestrina, the program ends with original late baroque works originally for cornetto (Baldassare) and some adaptations of works for castrato and other instruments.
The heart of the program is love – love for different musical works and love for one’s instruments and each other. In this concert, the repertoire of the 16th-18th centuries will come together in the original Renaissance performance, as well as adaptations of works originally written for voice and other instruments.
